Come to your senses by removing them.

This is a sensory deprivation (isolation) tank. For those that have no idea what that means, heres a quick run down. There are centres across the world which have soundproofed rooms which house huge pods. The pods are half filled with water which is the exact temperature of the human body. Epsom salts are then poured into the water so that a human can float whilst being slightly submerged in the water. This then gives the feeling of complete weightlessness whilst simultaneously removing all external senses. You can’t see, hear or feel anything. After arriving at the centre, to calming music and a young, softly spoken receptionist, I was brought through to the room where I’d be experiencing this phenomenon....

Traveller Truths

I’ve done a lot of travelling in my life. I don’t come from money so as a child, I was blessed to have a mother who saw how important travelling can be in formative years. My mum isn’t actually from this country so seeing family was always a good reason to get away, which also provided a cheap alternative to hotels! However, my mother’s love for travelling was way deeper than just moving country for the sake of it. She got to this country not knowing the language, in search of work, showing how much of a curious (and bold!) soul she has. This adventurous soul has never left her and she still travels as much as possible to this...

Believe in your Sorcery

The vast majority of people are simply acting within the constraints of society whilst wanting to get out. As explained within the previous article ‘Live a little, coz ninjas die a lot’, people are conditioned and forced into a certain 9-5 way of thinking/living. There is no other conceivable way of living presented within the education system or highlighted in the media to children dreaming of their future. The only way out for the average child is to get unbelievable grades and go to university, or the unrealistic dream of becoming a footballer/reality TV star. Why don’t teachers tell the ‘class clown’ to embrace their gift and become a stand up comic? Why don’t counsellors help bullies understand their aggression...

Live a little, coz ninjas die a lot

There’s more than one way to live. Aghast, you’re probably ready to click the little x on this tab and go back to Facebook or porn or whatever bullshit you were filling your off-time with. But anyways, you’ve got by my first little rant which is a major win for the both of us. Now if you would take this one step further and hear me out, i’d be very appreciative… and who knows, so might you.   Now let me reiterate my first statement. There’s more than one way to live, and the vast majority of us do not actually know this. Life seems so uninteresting when broken down and interpreted as what most of our time and effort...

Libertatia: The pirate utopia - May the Liberi spirit live on

Pirates in their simplest form are anti-authoritarian and therefore immediately demonised. However, we’ve learnt through numerous past examples that history is written by the winner and I therefore believe pirates may have been painted with a tainted brush and, like anyone else, deserve a fair shake. Were they murderers? I guess so. Was their killing meaningless or for amusement? No. Killing is never endorsed (obviously) but fighting for a just cause is applauded in society - a clear example being winning wars in order to halt totalitarian domination.   The pirates led by Henry Avery were responsible for creating the anarchist colony of ‘Libertatia’, and this group had as just of a cause as anyone for fighting. To live a...
